Stephen's Life
Born in Fayette, Pennsylvania in the year 1909, Stephen F. Vayda was a heroic man who gave his life to serve for our beloved country. Approximately 6'7'' and 150 pounds, Vayda lived a civil life as a carpenter before enlisting into the United States Army on June 27, 1941 in the state of Maryland. Vayda was a member of the 176th Infantry 2nd Battalion, in which he was a technical sergeant. He was honored with several awards including a Purple Heart Medal. Vayda was killed on October 7,1944, and was buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial. The cause of his death is unknown.
